Hammer, havent been on much lately but wow, you had a ppi didnt you?, Anyway good luck and see some time soon on get together, Kevin
|
Kevin,
You couldn't see the rust from the underneath the car. The factory undercoating was the only thing holding the rear buckets together. Water leaked in thru the rear windshield seal. I knew the seal was bad and the rear shelf was rustybefore I bought it. I will be in the garage all day Saturday prepping her for surgery if you want to fly over and check it out. |
Shawn, a couple new panels and it will be as good as new, Lets see how it goes on saturday. My 3.6 came to a complete stop a couple months ago, I am gonna try and get back at it this week so i may be working on it. But if not i will come down, you said there is a get together the 19th?, can none members go, Kevin

I dont think a PPI would catch this alot of times. IS it a common rust area?
|
Kevin,
Sure why not. I will keep you in the loop if you want. It is a fun drive. Let meknow about Saturday and I will get you directions. EW, The only way you would of found it would be to remove all the interior. |
Talked to Charles last night. He is cutting me the panels out of a coupe he has. The only bad spot on his panel is the only good spot on mine! Funny how things work out. This Saturday we will be prepping The Red Queen for surgery and next weekend will be welding in the new panel.
If anyone (especially with metalworking/panelfitting experience) wants to come over to help, for support, point and laugh, or whatever let me know. I am easy to find. |
Let me know how it works out. My '72 has the same problem, although its not (yet) that bad. My wrench says it shouldn't be a big deal to fix. I also already have a roll cage.
