Retractable seat belts in early 911 - need help please

Need some help from the community, hope someone can offer some guidance.

I have a 1970 911t that came with standard 2pt seat bets that attached to the seat slider/frame. The belts are worn and fragile and I do not wish to use them. I ordered some retractable/inertia 3 point belts and was attempting ot install them when I noticed the rectrator mount on the side near the wheel well was maybe 1/4" deep.

Does this need to be knocked/drilled out? The car/chassis has the mount there (threaded) but can't screw a bold in very far. (red circle in photo)

I made a custom seat bracket for the new seats and added tabs for both the receiver and the 2nd attachment point for belt but I'm trying to avoid modifying the car in any way. When I stripped the car I just assumed it would attach/thread in there without issue and now it's got the interior back in I am more determined to not modify the body/chassis to install these.

Help...

That should be the correct hole. If you look in the wheel well, you should see a reinforcement strip acroos the hole with a hole tapped into it.

As with ALL seat belts worldwide, the threads are SAE 7/16-20. Run the correct thread chaser through the hole to clean it up.

Expect to find a removable plug. That's what's stopping your bolt at 1/4".

as others have said, that is the right hole. Even with your enthusiastic removal of the interior paint, and more....I'm sure...

be sure to run a tap thru the hole, yes, it's the only SAE thread on the car.....it is very likely there is a build up of undercoat or other gunk in that hole from many years of accumulation.

The threads on the valve stems for the tires are SAE I believe. And the wheels are measured as 15, 16 and 17 and so on. Total trivia.

Thanks guys, after reading this I looked in the wheel well, did some cleaning of the undercoating I found the nut. I was still trying to figure out how to remove it from the inside which was puzzling. So for the next guy trying to figure this out, here is the final piece of the puzzle.
