Can’t switch out of generic mobile view

Mods,

I don’t know what happened but when I try to view the forums from my mobile I am stuck in a generic mobile view. Clicking disable mobile theme does nothing.

Whatever you broke, please fix it. It’s horrible.

My colleague and I both just checked and it seems to be working fine.

What phone are you using? Maybe a software update is needed to fix this?

iPhone X. The site was down for me the other day and it has been this way ever since it came back up.

Edit: I found that I see the generic mobile theme when I go to the http (non-secure) site on port 80. It works correctly if I go to the https (secure) version on port 443.

Also started noticing ads at the top of the screen which I’ve never seen before.

I have the same ad issue happening, started about a week ago. Really annoying when using a small phone screen.

Regarding mobile view. The only way I've been able to switch in and out of mobile view is to log off from pelican. Then the change takes effect.

Bump because this is still broken.

The webserver config is the problem. It works fine when I use the https (secure, port 443) version of the site. And I do this as a workaround but when someone posts a link and it is to the non-secure (port 80) version, it switches back to the mobile theme instead of the Desktop theme.

Clicking on Desktop theme does not switch to Desktop theme — it just redirects to the main forum page.

Something is misconfigured.

You can't buy happiness, but you can buy car parts which is kind of the same thing.

for Iphone users, in the URL line there is also a button that requests for a mobile theme.
If you switch it off, problem fixed.

Two letters A, left top corner of your screen.

Well, that helps a little bit. It does switch to desktop but it makes me log back in. I clicked on a link in one thread that took me to another thread on the forum. When I tried to switch to the Desktop view I had to re-login and then it redirected me to the forum main page so I lost the page I was trying to get to.

It is still strange that the link from vBulletin doesn’t work to switch out of mobile mode.

My point is that there are obviously two instance running — one unsecure on port 80 and one secure on port 443. The instance on port 443 sems to work correctly so it’s likely a config difference between the two instances.

If only there was a tool that could compare two configuration files for differences. Oh, wait... there is! Unix diff!
