Taking the WEVO dive for my 915...worth it??

So I'm considering purchasing the WEVO shifter linkage + the actual WEVO shifter.

For those with much more 915 experience than me (I'm at about 8 weeks and still learning)...worth it???

Yes. I'm about 17 years in with my Wevo stuff. I have their internal gateshift, their classic shifter and their coupler.

There are other good products out there, but I'm an example of too much power going into too little transaxle (my 1977 915 has the magnesium case and my engine is a 3.6 from a 1995 911), and... no bad consequences for 17 years.

I run 6-8 track events every year and do a bunch of irresponsible street driving in between.

So, yes. It's great stuff.

I found the wevo to be very hard to adjust properly..I used it for about 4yrs..
I replaced it with a jwest shifter( also hard to adjust properly) and happy i did..

Both are nice units..you get die hard from both sides..

I'm getting ready to dive in here too. I'll be watching this thread to get people's opinions of both formats, pro and con.

What Jack said. I have the heavier-duty (race?) springs in my WEVO/915 (same '77 mag case) and it is fantastic. Completely removes any uncertainty in the 2-3 upshifts, and downshifts are precise. Lets me focus on the line, etc.

Haven't tried any other options, so can't comment, but wouldn't hesitate to do it again if needed.

Also, their lightweight aluminum door pulls were a great addition... no more broken plastic ones.

I'm fortunate enough to have two cars to compare shifters.
The 79SC has a 3L and std 915 trans and shift lever with fresh shifter bushings and coupler AND Seine gate shifter.I think it is a great device and adds level of precision to an imprecise shifter. It corrects the sloppiness of the 915 shifter but it is not as smothe/tight as the weave.

The Carrera (3.6L and 915 box) has the wevo setup (shift lever, weave coupling, and shift rod.)It also smoothes out/pinpoints the shifter position thru all the gears.
It is precise,It does its job very very well,I wouldn't look back.

Twenty years with my WEVO. Can’t imagine being without it.

The WEVO shifter and coupler are by FAR the best bolt on upgrade you will ever do to your car..

The play in the factory shifter is by design believe it or not. The lack of a 3,4 return contributes to the fun given it will never shift like a Honda, which is part and parcel of the old school 915 ownership experience. I think it's charming.

Have enjoyed my 915 for over 140k miles with stock (but properly adjusted) setup and have never had any problem finding/selecting the proper gear -- Sure the Wevo and Seine setups provide different feedback/etc. but haven't felt the need to change anything on my '86 targa once it was properly adjusted (that said, remember how much nicer it shifted after it was first "dialed in" by Jose at Autobahn in VA MANY years ago) I think the key here (especially for new(er) owners) is to first make sure your current linkage/bushings are in proper shape/properly set up before you start changing things.

If you are trying to solve a poor shifting transmission with these parts, you may be disappointed.

If you are trying to remove slop, then you'll be pleased.

I have an 82 SC with Wevo shifter and internal gate. Made a noticeable improvement in shift quality and precision.

Would be cool if Stomski showed us what it actually looks like under the rubber boot. Their tools are excellent so I expect it to be nice too. I have a lot of time on both Wevo and Rennshift, both are really nice improvements for a worn out stock shifter.

I installed a wevo and wevo coupler a couple weeks ago it's a well made upgrade and yes it's hard to get the adjustment from 4th to 5th ( because of the reverse lock out).
Takes patience but once adjusted it's a nice upgrade.

Agreed has anyone purchased the Paradigm shifter in CF or the stealth version?

We need a review on this piece. I would be happy to do a write up and video review.

BTW love the pelican case that it all comes in. Nice detail.

And the stealth version for about half the price:

Spoke with Wevo today. Very helpful and nice person. Spoke for probably 15 minutes or so. Having looked at my linkage in my car, it appears to be in very good shape, if not "new". She was nice enough to recommend I NOT buy the linkage from them until mine wears out. She did recommend the shifter, which from what I can tell, the big improvement for me would be a slightly (30%) shorter throw. Looking into the "jwest" to compare as well.

Aside from the carbon fiber pieces and the finish work, the stomski and rennshift look so similar that I'm guessing that they have the same internal design.
