wiring the rear window defroster 1974 targa

Hi, Can anybody tell me how to connect the wires [ in what order/set up ] on the tabs
connected to the rear window defrosting wiring glued onto the inside of the rear window of a 1974 Targa ?

We are installing the rear window and need to know how to hook up the wires that will be hidden under the window seal.
Somehow they will exit through the rubber on the inside of the car?

We don't want to have to take the window out again so doing it right the first time is important.
We have a 2 stage relay and switch in the dashboard.
So, the defrosting tab-connections first, afterwards we'll figure out the rest once the window is in [ and stays in hopefully ]
I read some posts on the defrosting set up but would like to focus upon the window
connections first.
Thanks for any suggestions!!

Welcome! I've never had to work on my rear defroster wiring, but I looked these up.
I used the following string on Google to find posts here on Pelican - I find it easier than using the dedicated search feature: "pelican porsche 911 rear window defrost wiring 1974"

There are more, but I hope these 2 results may be helpful.

Before you go to the effort you may want to check that the majority of your lines aren’t already compromised. The lines on my 71 and 72 targas, 73 and 82 coupes were 80 to 90% shot. Unless you have a low mileage always garaged car, I would bet yours are toast too.

I now use the defogger button to activate my auxiliary driving lights.

Targa rear glass defrost diagrams

This thread has some great documentation.

Does the picture above have the black and brown wires on the left side (or 1,2,3 cylinder side) of the car (closest to the plugin in engine bay side)?

It took me a while, but the stages refer to a two stage window defrost, since I only have a single stage, I think I can ignore that part of the complexity.

Great picture and documentation, hoping it's very similar on a '78. Wish I could find the corresponding picture for a '78. Just got my car painted and glass installed and the bar on etc. Now the window has no heat. Trying to decide the path to take.
