Braided brake hose that goes all the way to the caliper
Does anyone have a line on a brake hose that is long enough and with the right fittings to eliminate the short steel line that attaches to the caliper?
The calipers come off way to often checking track pads to mess with the retainer bracket and clip. Not only is it a pain but the steel line has to flex quite a bit. Thanks |

Confused.
On my 911, to check the pads, you just look. To change them, pull the pins, push them back and pull out. Install is the reverse. They stay mounted the whole time. Only to change the rotor or service the calipers do you need to remove the caliper. Do you have some weird after market setup?

I've thought about this as well, for convenience in changing rotors or anything else which requires removing the hub. While using some sort of plastic or rubber sleeve/grommet in the tab on the strut would be a good idea with a single long flexible line, it would seem that a flex line could accommodate a sort of 45 degree angle down from the strut to the caliper attachment. As a practical matter, I've never had issues just letting the flex of the steel line let me get the caliper over the edge of the rotor. Also means no special need for fluid bleeding. But the idea still has attraction.
Not sure that a rotatable male end is available on a flexible line, but an adapter converting the caliper to a male end extending out ought not to be too hard. |

I did exactly this years ago - a long steel braid flex line, with clear covering, from the tub to the caliper. I had the lines custom done with the right fittings and it wasn't terribly expensive. I just can't remember where I had them made up.
I've been very happy with the set up, as the car is tracked, so the rotors come off often enough and that simplifies the whole process. I did meet the owner of Spiegler Performance a few years ago, and he said he could make those. He just needed the length and fittings info. Worth a call. https://spieglerusa.com/brakes/brake-lines-accessories-tools/custom-brake-lines.html Correction - I had lines made up to replace the hard line and connect to the braided flex lines I had already replaced. Same outcome, just 2 piece. Next time I'd do a one piece.

The rsr-100 lines use banjo bolts versus the male ends. I may have to call someone who makes custom lines. Really surprised these are not readily available.
