Center Lock Wheels On Street Car?

Is it hard to adapter center lock racing wheels to a street 930? Are there companies that make adapter hubs? Any info is appreciated.
Best Regards

centerlocks

there is an Ebay seller that carrries new hubs and the rotor hats needed for the brakes. do a search on completed sales and centerlocks, porsche, so forth, he's in germany. not cheap.
one issues is the parking brake, centerlocks don't have them so you would need to rig something up.

DSM,

I have several BBS 3p Centerlock wheels for sale and will be running an ad soon on ebay. A set of wheels and hubs will run about $5500.00.

this car has centerlock wheels. As the car is a turbo, the hub set up from a 935 was used on the rear and front. The rims are now from the LMK 917 replica builders down under, as the original rims had cracks and lotsa leaks. Not for the faint of wallet! But oh sooo cool

note that there is no using the oem emergency brake set up with this. a RSR set up will have to be sourced and installed

From the write up in Excellence a while back unless this is a clone of that car with the somewhat pink pig paint job on it I remember the article stating that the owner drew up and had centerlock hubs made for the car and that Vision/Kokeln were selling them on a I want it basis.

Looks like a love it or hate it kinda car. What I want to know is where can you get rubber with the logo painted on it?? Thats slick or do you have to sit down with paint and a brush and do it on your own?

You can get tire paint from most general car shops - http://www.speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Pressure_Guard.html

LMK built those wheels- vision had nothing to do with it (as fine an establishment as they are)
go to your local aircraft supply for those rare RSR (Rubber String Rubber) emergency brakes

I have a friend who had a few set of BBS center-lock centers, I can see if he is willing to part with them.

the problem with OLD bbs centers are the possibility of the metal breaking down. Any potential purchase MUST be done with the centers getting inspected for cracks and metal breakdown. The magnesium in these real race centers will break down over time. Don't believe me? Call BBS and ask them.

This thread has intrigued me so i called my friend that makes our 2 piece minilites for us to discuss a centerlock for the 911. We are noodling some dimensions to see if we can offer a "bolt on" kit using the BRM 6 spoke pattern in a 17" diameter. This style of wheel approximates the look of the 917 RSR type (6 vs 5 spoke) but will be made from modern molds and allow the use of larger tires available in the 17" sizes. Don't worry- you'll see me posting a thread here once we figure out its possibilities and costs

Dave, be sure to include the cost of the pit cart with the 400 PSI nitrogen bottle for getting the nut off.

But seriously, what would you use to get the nut off, something like the 959's planetary gearset?

paul kramer carries a 4 foot long breaker bar with a custom made socket. then its a heave ho to get it tight- using a very scientific "oof!" expression of exertion to regulate the torque tightening it

Centerlocks

Check out Forgeline.com. They make centerlock conversions for all Porsches and almost any other car.

Gary,

I have one set of BBS Centerlocks that I was going to use but decided against it since I am only running sprint races and decided it makes no sense for me.

The wheels are configured with 16in pieces, but you can convert to 17in pieces.

Bob
