Transmission shipping ?
Anyone have any experience shipping a transmission half way across the country? Which carrier is good to use?
Thanks! Rob 1980SC |

If I remember right, a 915 (bare, no fluid) is just under the weight limit for UPS. However, I would check with FedEx ground first, as their rates are usually much cheaper. Otherwise, terminal-to-terminal freight companies like Forward Air might be the next best alternative.

Yes, the tranny will be just under the 150lb weight limit via ups in a large triplewall cardboard box.. Cost me $70 bucks to go Michigan To CT.

I built a wooden shipping crate.
Rennsport/Rothsport uses Northern Airfreight. Door to door service $125 from Portland, Ore. to Stevensville, MT.

Forward air shipped a tranny from San Diego to Portland for $45, strapped to a pallet.
