ID brake calipers.

Going to start a project thread when there’s time to give it a proper go. In the meantime need some assistance figuring out what I actually have.

Then there are these brackets.

Calipers look like „Big Reds“, in this case 964 Turbo.

They are either 964 3.3t also used on 964RS or more probably 993. In any case fronts

They are not 'Big Reds" which were used on 964 3.6t and 993RS/tt/928GTS

The only difference between 964 3.3t and 993 is the height of the caliper mounts

993 have short mounts to be used w/ 304x32 rotors

964 3.3t and 964 RS ghave tall mounts to be used w/ 322x32mm rotors

regardless of the color
964 3.3t & 964RS tall mounts

993 short mounts

on left 993 on right 993RS, the RS aka 'Big Red are id'd by the big hump in the middle to accommodate the tall pads

They appear to be 996 monoblocks possibly from a turbo

here's a pic of 996turbo(top) & 993RS/tt(bottom)

Your car has a very strange brake setup, You have front brake calipers front & rear which gives the car a huge rear bias, very unsafe unless mitigated by other factors

It was run (very competitively) in GT1 by Dan Davis so it must work somewhat well. Bill going to dive into the rest of the brake setup what else should I be looking for? There are bungs on the trailing arms. Looks like it’s for an ABS setup, would that be a mitigating factor?

Wild guess but those brackets might be wing mounts?

ABS sensors need a toothed wheel on the axle

On the right is a stock 993 wheel carrier/stub axle w/ 48 tooth abs ring, 964 uses a 45tooth version and other cars will have a similar arrangement

W/o knowing anything about you car, I can only comment on a typical race setup

for example a 2007 GT3 RSR will have a twin master setup that allows brake torque bias to vary between 1.92 and 1.260, a typical street/track setup for a 911 varies from ~1.42 to 1.7, lower is better to a point.

Yours is ~1, which is great until a rear looses grip, the best thing to have for your sort of setup is a driver adjustable twin master like the RSR

Here is a picture of the master cylinder, I *think* it says .7 on the passenger side and .75 on the driver.

yes, that is a twinmaster setup that would be needed to get bias where you want it.

I don't see a balance bar that would be needed to have driver adjustability

the diameter of the bore should be embossed on each m/c
there are .75" and .7" m/c out there

the sizes used determine pedal feel and bias
