Difference in length between SWB and LWB banana arms?
Like the title says, does anyone know the difference between the two?

and there are two different geometries for LWB arms, 69-71 for 901/911 transmissions and 72-73 for 915.

Also, at some poing in the early 70s, Porsche switched to cast aluminum for the trailing arms, and they are reputed to be stiffer. Maybe lighter too?

By my scales, lighter by about 13 lbs./pair.
I've also heard the claims to them being stiffer. I'll leave the rigidity claims to those who know better. Sherwood |

I may go back to the original idea of just shifting my flares a little bit so the wheels stay centered.

Years ago I had a problem with the left rear wheel bearing, in my 72. I ended up replacing the trailing arm with the aluminum item which apparently had a larger wheel bearing to boot.

The SWB trailing arms support the bearings FAR better than the LWB equivalents. The early RSR 911s needed to add stiffening plates to support the bearing housing on the steel bananas to prevent bending as a result of racing tires & large width wheels and the associated increased loading on the arms. The aluminum arms resolve that deficiency. Also, the bearing setup in the steel, LWB arms is a bit under-designed IMHO.
