How do I install clutch cable?

Can anybody provide me with a complete illustration of the clutch cable hookup from the pedal to the clutch fork for a 1970 Porsche 911-S?When I got the car there wasn't any cable so I don't know how to run it from the pedal to tranny(5-speed).Thank you.

Snagged a few pics off the web. The white sleeve is also available in metal, recommended. The gold piece holds the rear of the cable to the ear on the bellhousing. You will need to source the two jamb nuts. The nuts tighten up to the white piece to take the slack out.

Pull the pedal cluster. It hooks on the right side of it. Look in the tunnel with a small mirror and light. And note how it goes before you pull it out the front of the tunnel. You don't want it to get wound around anything when you reinstall it. You can see under the car where it comes out. It hooks to the side of the trans then goes to the omega spring area to the fork. Take a picture before you thaw the arm and spring off. You have to understand how the arm and spring work. Might want to replace the pin in the arm while it's apart. Hope this helps.RT.

Now is a good time to check and replace the bushings for the pedal cluster accelerator cable bell crank. When I put a new cable in my 84 I found that one bushing had disintegrated and the other on its way.

You need the black sleeve seen in pic 2, far left shows a portion of it, it’s a about 2 feet long I recall. When you step on the pedal you actually end up straightening the cable which pushes on the clutch fork. Hope that makes sense.

The white plastic sleeve with two round ears, replace that with an aluminum one if they are still available. There will be 2 jam nuts on the threaded end of the cable housing. Those will push against the plastic/aluminum gadget that fits into the release bearing arm. This set up was from 69-71, referred to as a push/pull cable. Bob
