7s and 9s - $1000?

Not an April Fools joke.

Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2409313513&category=38662

You'll understand why I was so excited, checking my bank account, and then suddenly let down like a popped balloon.

I don't understand why but those rims have been re-listed a couple of times. No one is biting..that is a good deal though..

The 16 x 9's are NOT real Fuchs! At least he is telling you that up front!

The 9" rear wheels are where the money would be. 7" Fuchs are fairly plentiful. The reason they are so cheap is the rears are "not original Fuchs". They might look nice, but they are not cold forged original wheels. I own a set of original 7" and 9" Fuchs and would not part with them for that price no matter how much dust they were collecting.

That said, i have heard some good things about the cast replicas but they just don't garner the kind of interest that the real deal does.

Note: The 9's are NOT original Fuchs.

Edit: Guess I'm not the first to notice...

All replicas are not the same.

I imagine some are pressure cast and better than the rough gravity cast others. I've seen the rough ones and they're not pretty!

I saw this auction end for $1400 and change last week and thought to myself that someone got a good deal. Then I noticed the new auction stating that the 9's are "replicas, but you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you." Well, I gotta assume the last buyer was not happy that the 9's turned out to be replicas and hence the reason for the relisting!!!!!

Thanks Guys.

I guess this is the reason why when I do a purchase involving multiple C Notes I stay away from cheese bay and prefer face to face business.

Funny, 'cause back when I was trying to sell my extra set of real 7's and 9's, all I was getting were offers in the $800-$900 range. I decided to keep them as a 3rd set of track wheels.

I hear ya Thom. I go thru this every time I try to sell my headers.

Every seller wants a mint for them- they're gold for crying out loud!

Every buyer wants to get a deal on them.

Yeah this seems to hold true for the whole car, not just the wheels.
When guys are looking at another car the theme is, oh that is way more than the market around here, but let em start puttiing a value on their own car and its, oh man I am getting low balled

I've seen people pay stupid money on Ebay for a set of 7s and 9s. With tires - in good condition - and with a well-marketed ad - $2000.

I've seen 7s and 8s, polished, with a really well composed ad, close at $1500. That's lame.

A set of 7s is worth $300. A set of 9s is worth $900. This is my opinion.

Mark,

So, $300 and $900 if you are buying, or selling?

Buying, of course!

I have a set of 6s and 7s that are polished. Not sure what I would want for them with tires. Probably $1000. They are really nice.

Not that I'm selling them. My personal preference would be to find a set of 9s, polished. Then get rid of the 6s. I'd pay $1000 for a set of polished 9s, I guess.

I bought a genuine set recently for 1400.00 from a guy in Portland. He still has a set of 7 and 9's in factory blue centers, take-offs from a factory slant nose with cloisenne crests. He's asking 2K for those, they are perfect except the blue didn't match my car.

For reference - I paid $1000 for a very nice set of 9's - refinished - polished lip - black center - and $750 for a pair of polished 944 23.3 offset 8 x 16's. Less than a few months ago. bought a set of 7's for $350 - sold them for $310 (because I bought the 8's)
