Need to install new Points in a 72, anything special I need to know?

I've never done this before.

I set the gap at .35mm or 0.014". Is it pretty straighforward to determine at which point during the rotation you should be checking the gap? Anybody have a quick photo, so I don't screw it up....

Should I set ignition timing, then set gap on points and then re-check ignition timing?

Thanks!

You guys rule.

you have it. the high spot on the dizzy cam should have the points at their maximum opening.

a .001" change in point gap is 2-3 degree timing change. check the timing again after a week or so. be sure to put a minimal amount of dielectric on the rub pad on the new points and the dust from the packaging can have detrimental effects. clean. clean. clean.

dwell meters are tricky on cd systems. i asked how to do it correctly on earlys, but it is lost in the swill of grey matter.
