Prorated Battery

My GT3s 3yr old H8 battery was getting a bit sluggish starting the car. Maybe I should just drive the car more?

Nope - when fully charged it would be at 12.2vts then within 20 minutes of sitting, it would drop to 12.07. A healthy battery should hold around 12.6vts.

So take the battery to WallyMao where they test it and determine it needs a charge. After they charge it they determine its defective (probably a bad cell). So I get $48 proration towards a new battery. Great, right?

WRONG! If I use the proration towards a new battery, the new battery’s warranty is only 2yrs - the balance of the warrant that’s left on the old battery.

WallyMao told me that it’s not their policy but Johnson Controls, the battery manufacturer - one f the biggest.

In the past, the “new” replacement battery came with a “new” warranty. Customer Service in today’s modern age.

Made in USA, check them out. I was a Interstate user for years, now they manufacture in Mexico and the quality/life has dropped into the bottom half of the curve.

Don't know what the original life of the battery was supposed to be, nor what it cost at the time?

Used to be you'd get a "new full" warranty. But in reality you were leasing a battery and tied into a vendor. At least with this new plan, you are free after 2 years?

Probably a wash?
