Thats weird - will have to check mine. Should only go one way.

"Does that mean if you flip the connector 180* when putting it on, it won't work? I do not recall the connectors having any shape or rib that forces them to go in only one way (on my 73.5)."
My connectors only go one way.

Alan

You are right - just checked mine (spare one).
Can't figure that, but it is what it is.
Electromagnetic coils are supposed to be directional depending on direction of current flow?
Pull in or push out.
Hmm - something not computing in my brain. but you are right.
Regards
Alan

Most electrical solenoids I've played with over the years are spring-loaded out, and pull in when energized, and it doesn't matter which polarity. That's because the part that gets pulled into the solenoid coil center is just plain steel, thus magnetizing the coil in either direction will exert a pull on the steel plunger. The plunger itself would have to be magnetized in a particular polarity for the solenoid to push it out; or the steel plunger is longer than the solenoid, so that when it is pulled in to center, the opposite end gets pushed out.

I don't know if that's how the CCV is designed, but my vague recollection is that the connector only goes on one way.

Yes, my connector only goes one way. But that explains it - any magnetic field will do. Doesn't have to be directional.
The CSV and my starter solenoid are both spring loaded out.
Thanks
Alan
