911 Carrera 1987 Stone guard
Am interested in purchasing rerar stone guard decals . How to "install " them? Glue? Screws?

Suggest finding a top notch wrap shop in your area. The wrap technology has advanced immensely since the 80s stone guards.

There are also magnetic ones available, that way you can reposition or remove and reinstall at will.
Here from Werks911, but I'm sure there are other suppliers as well. |
The "original" black guards are thick and stiff. Also they are peel and stick.
Before you apply, make sure they are warm enough to be very flexible. The contact surface too. Have your heat gun plugged in and handy, just in case. Surface should be clean, clean, clean. No wax, etc. Might even use a clay bar? The adhesive is very good and doesn't allow second tries. Find the spot to start where the bottom will be parallel with the car's lines. Then I started at the bottom of the wheel arch and followed it up around the arch. After the curve edge was attached, I worked outward. Practice once or twice before actually exposing the adhesive? |
