crank shaft pully is hitting alt. fan shroud

Help !

I heard some noise today when I started her up looked in engine compartment and found that the crankshaft pullys were rubbing or hitting the alt fan shroud. pulleys and fan shroud are tight, can anyone tell me what to look for or am I in for a rebuild could it be a bad bearing?

Thanks in advance
Billy

Huh? You mean the fan blades are hitting the shroud? There is no way the pulley could be hitting the shroud! If the blades are hitting the shroud you either have cracks in the shroud which have allowed the shroud to become oval shaped or you have a bearing going out on the alternator shaft which would allow the fan to shift around and hit the shroud.

yes the pullys are hitting the shroud near the timing mark maybe its not torqed to the right setting, I can wedge a long screw driver between the shroud and the pullys and move the pullys a slight bit towards the rear of the car but the bolt that holds the pullys on doesnt look loose at all.

Sorry, my bad, you said "crank" pulley and my dense brain read "fan" pulley. Like Chris said in his cryptic post your fan housing is a bit loose and moving out until it is stopped by the crank pulley. Loosen the housing strap, push the fan housing back and tighten the strap back up.
