Porsche Crest Talbot bullet mirrors on an SC??? Photoshopers?

Whata you guys think?
Could Talbot bullet mirrors look good on an 78' SC hotrod w/chrome sugar scoops and an early metal engine grill?
Should I get chrome or brushed aluminum?
I've tried to find some pics here and there but keep coming up empty handed... lots of early cars though.

Can any of you Photoshop Gurus put this on a black SC for me???
Thanks

Lots of purists wouldn't approve, but then there are a few of us who don't care.

I have Ford Cobra mirrors on both sides of my 72 Cpe, painted the body color. I like being just a little different. I'm going to Superlite wheels as well. Every early car you see has Fuch wheels.

I agree. I think I'm gonna do it. I'm keeping my cookie cutters too. I just can't be like everyone else.

OK. Here's the update... I ordered 1 chrome Talbot mirror (after much deliberation) for my SC. It will look something like this...

Love this guys car

joe payne - where did you get those matte black ones? Did you paint them or did they come that way. I have thought about putting Talbots on my carrera if I coulld find some that matched the anodized window trim.

Thanks, Farrell

I ordered mine from "RatSport" in the UK... not sure if it's a real Talbot but you can order them in black. It was WAY cheaper than the ones from the US co. It says it was made from the same tooling as the original but I doubt it says "Talbot" on it. Made from spun copper and triple chromed... yada, yada. I'll post when I get it.
joe payne's seem to be somewhat of a rectangle shaped design. I took some inspiration from a different pic I found of his car. Nice car joe.

I was fortunate enough to find these mirrors on Ebay. I had been looking on and off for a long time and finally found these. They are real Talbot's, right down to the green dots.
They are classic bullet shaped but a slightly larger rectangular mirror and sprayed matte black from the factory..
They are both using a blue tinted wide angle type glass.
Incredibly lightweight weighing in at 9.6 oz. each. The stock flag mirrors weigh about 4 lbs. a piece
The coolest part was they were in the original boxes with mounting instructions with a printing date of 1978!

Very Nice! Weight is definitely one of the reasons I'm going this way. Not to mention they look cool. I saw one like yours with the rectangular mirror when I was doing my search but havn't been able to find it since. Those stock mirrors are bricks! I sold mine ASAP. Also those tail lights are excessively heavy. What the heck?

One more thing. They are more aerodynamic than the flags.

Most definitely. One concern I had was the fitment to the contour of the door but yours seems to fit nicely. Hope mine does too.

Maybe a dumb question - how do these mirrors do at covering the original mirror holes. This is an easy change if it does that well. If it requires welding up holes and repainting - not likely to happen for me anytime soon.

Thanks for the help Joe

The Z Store sells repro black Talbots. I've got them on my quattro rally clone. They're a bit flimsy but are extremely light and look the part. Audi used real green dot black Talbots on the rally cars.

Sorry to say that you will be dealing with some swiss cheese after you take off the flag mirrors.

Well I got my Talbot replica in the mail today and lets just say it's less than stellar. Not only does it have a scuff on the finish, it just isn't the quality I was hoping for. I won't even bother posting a picture... I'm going for the real deal. Too bad they cost so much. Oh well, it's only money right? The govt. will always print more.

I think the mirrors will look great. I replaced my Flags with Sebrings. Going for the R Gruppe look on my 964.

I ordered my mirrors from Pegasus Racing. They have a nice selection of mirrors here: Pegasus - Vintage Style Racing Mirrors

This mirror is interesting....
