Roll bar/cage certification. Is it required?

If I have a roll bar or cage manufactured locally, do I need it to be certified in anyway to be legal for PCA (or SCCA for that matter) events? It will be constructed according to the rules but on all of the off-the-shelf bars and cages that I have seen there is a blue "certification" decal. Does my locally made bar/cage need one of those?

Even pre-manufactured roll bars are measured at the race scrutineering. A hole is drilled in the tubing, so wall thickness and diameter can be measured. If your roll bar meets spec, it should be fine.

A small detail, but an inspection hole needs to be drilled in all of the major tubes to allow them to be inspected.

Paragraph 18.1.6C says...
Quote:
An inspection hole at least 3/16 inch diameter, but no greater than 1/4 inch diameter shall be drilled in a non-critical area of all tubes with a specified size to facilitate verification of wall thickness.
The tubes with specified size will vary depending on the class, but assume that they are at a minimum are the main hoop, the front hoop, the halo, the door bars, and the rear braces.
