Exactly. The only ones I've had come off were scraped off in a tight space. And I think the set comes with extras of each size.

I like those vertical peg socket sorters as well, except you need fairly tall drawers so they fit.

Instead I use these: Steel Core Socket Organizer

It had to happen sooner or later - a thread on “my nut containers are bigger than yours”.

I thought you might like to see my super organized tool box. Not high quality tools but great for when you need to grab some quick tools to help someone else out....

I got this great set from Griot's

The Griot's box comes either empty or with all of the tools and foam already cut down so it always stays organized.

All that organization and no 911 to work on Rodney?

Rodney you rock. I love your setup. Piles of dirty tools thrown around gives me angst. Less is more. Many advantages to that organized setup, the best of which is quickly finding what you need as well as quickly seeing if something is missing. I'd rather have a few really nice tools in a drawer vs piles of dirty low quality tools sliding around in barely close-able drawers.

No, thank God I do have one. I was without for a while and it was really hard to get back into the game with the 69 - 73 911s prices skyrocketing. So, I ended up a couple of years ago buying a terrible '72 Front Date that I am in the process of Back Dating to original fenders and battery boxes etc....

Me too! Forward dated 72. Discovered the 2.4 had been rebuilt to 2.7RS specs 19K miles ago, so that was a nice surprise. I'm on the fence as to lightly re-finish or just run her as she is. I could easily spend 10K just on some simple stuff. Not sure I want to dig too far into this one....

GL with your project.

Standard length, long length, stubby, and offset box. Gear wrench - standard, stubby, rotating head. That's seven for one wrench size not counting duplicates.

I don't have seven for all metric sizes but probably for five of the core use sizes.

That said, I would turn the most organized box into a cluster %$#@ in no time.

Best tool kit I’ve ever owned. Built very well and come in nice metal cases.

The tool collections above aren't complete. I only saw ONE hammer thus far. How can you work on a car with only ONE hammer (if any)? After the rock, a hammer is the most basic of tools. I've got one large tool drawer full of all types and sizes ..... no rocks.

We use foam dividers in the toolboxes at work. It was all laser cut and labeled by Snap-on for us. I believe they even have a sensor and that tells you when a tool hasn't been removed and you need a code to get in. So in theory you know who lost what and do an inventory at every shift. I like the idea of the foam but I'm constantly adding tools to my boxes and replacing stuff as it breaks or I get a new tool of better quality. I have a couple of boxes and bags and I rotate tools depending on where I'm working. I'd be cutting new foam every couple of months if I did it that way, it also would limit the available space for me. I know exactly what I have and where everything is, but it definitely isn't that pretty. Many of the pro mechanics I know have a big fancy big name roll away box they paid thousands for, but all the stuff they use daily is in a small cart so they aren't doing laps around the shop.

I keep my hammers in a case with a glass door.

Also, I need to get that wretched engine in the car and out of my way.

Randy, Can you imagine a sledge hammer? The kind used in prison yards throughout history - the model that doesn't fit my rollaway. That's the largest leverage device I have other than some 1.5" steel pipe lengths I could join to multiply my batting average.

I know you asked first, but can you post yours? At the sledge level, I believe most are pretty much identical other than an occasional FG handle.
