M&K or Dansk 2in2out GT3?

Looking for a new (LOUD) GT3 style muffler for the SC.... I have SSI's now and a 2in 1 out, but want more auditable anger.

Yea, the first vid is the one that made me rethink the M&K. I think the Dansk is louder... My plans for now are a fairly nasty 3.2SS and ITB. I want it to boarder line obnoxious

When I had SSIs on my 3.2, I had an M&K 2/2 sport exhaust, and NOTHING sounded better (well, except for the turbo set up I have now). I always have felt that this combo was made in heaven. Besides, the M&K is probably half the weight of the Dansk....

Yea, I think it's a 10lb differece. Some of the vids I have been watching it seems like the Dansk is a little louder and more raw... but they both sound good...

I figure if it can't be fast at least it can be loud. LOL

come on my man.... you know that the M&K brand was born and raised here on pelican so nobody is going to disparage them and how pretty they look. I had one on my spec911 and people always asked what exhaust I was running because it had such a unique sound. unique because none of the other racecars used them.. so, if that's your criteria, how cool they look and the sound they contribute to,,, then carry on your way my son,, like that Kansas song.

after having one on my car previously and shopping for my subsequent carb'd, 75 street hot rod wannabe I went with the dansk 2/2. at half the cost, all be it twice the weight the grey sausage dansk hangs from my muffler straps.

I have one of these on my car. The sound is great and you go through certain bits of the Rev range it changes dramatically. Porsche 911 (74-89) Exhaust – TT Exhausts

If you want loud, find a used older MK.

We offer Motorsport versions of our mufflers which are louder than Sport mufflers. Pricing is the same as the Sport version. There are a lot of track cars that use our systems. It is important to match the right muffler with sound and performance requirements of the application so please call if in question. Yes our stainless products are more expensive than those stamped out of heavy gage carbon steel. They are also much more durable, much lighter, and we offer a lot of tailpipe and sound options including custom spacing. TT is a knock off of our products, the details materials and quality are not the same.

This.
My M&K 2in2out (gen V, I think) on SSI’s is plenty loud, borderline obnoxious and then some.
I cap off one side most of the time.
But it’s nice to know that I can go back and forth when I feel like it.

Rarlyl8 You are always my first choice for exhausty things. I'll get in touch this spring when the winter hibernation is nearing its end.

what do you base this on?

my M&K failed at one of the inlets cracking and actually losing a big chunk of the muffler body. I must admit you were very good in our correspondence about taking a look at the unit post failure if I was to ship it back to you. im pretty sure I sent you photos at the time. thanks for that.

I opted to forgo sending it back and went another direction for the racecar at the time as it failed mid season and I needed an immediate solution to keep racing. the dansks seem bullet proof and are based on the factory design that some are still around at 40+ years old.

Our failure rate is very close to zero. So low that I have repaired mufflers 10+ years old if they were not damaged or abused. Who else does that? As for TT, one look and you see the similarity. I have been told by too many that he purchased then copied our mufflers as well as my RSR headers. The stainless is not 321, the reinforcement panels are absent and the welding is not aircraft standard TIG that we employ.

M&K is good stuff.
I know Ben has forgotten more about welding than most welders will ever know and Brian is a good guy. Failure rate? I guess some people could break an anvil but I've not heard any negatives about M&K EXCEPT how loud they were BITD.

OT and FWIW, these are 991.2 headers made by a friend. 321 for a reason.

I will give u a ride in mine early MK shorty 2 in 2 out. It’s more obnoxious than any dansk outsside of the RSR straight through with the faux muffler. I have to pull away and drive it to the school yard to warm up in the mornings to not piss off the neighbors :-)

I have headers and a 2 in 2 out M&K muffler on my built 3.2SS. I love the sound, and get numerous compliments on it. I suspect some of it is the engine build, but there is no denying the M&K sound is unique, and certainly loud. I routinely set off car alarms as I drive by, and the wail above 4500 rpms is intoxicating. The weight savings is significant over the Dansk, and the workmanship is simply stunning. I'm a very satisfied fan.

The early M&K mufflers were only Sport and Motorsport versions. Sport is aggressive, Motorsport even more. We now have Street versions as well and just came out with an Active Exhaust Muffler with split personality, quiet at idle and cruise then Sport when you get on it!

Are there serial numbers on the MK GT3 to tell if I have a sport or street version?

Way back when I started m&k and before it changed hands to Brian I saw a few failures mostly based off of explosions happening within the muffler from an overly rich mixture and then igniting within the muffler.. In some cases they fractured the muffler shell.. It was a very small amount..

I have zero idea what the new models from m&k sound like from a sound stand point. I do know Brian supports the market pretty well.
