What Mirror holes to Plug Up For Backdate

Hi Everyone,

I want to weld up these mirror holes and leave the ones I need for the standard chrome mirror for a -72. Or are these holes all wrong and I should just weld them all up?

Sorry I don't have the mirrors yet and I want to weld this up this weekend.

Thanks for the help,

Rodney

I don't think any of the driver's side are correct, here is my '72 just out of the paint booth.

FWIW, originally there were no right hand side small chrome flag mirrors for '72-73. Right side mirrors were not available in the US for those years, and if you ordered a right side mirror on a RoW car you got round Durants. Porsche Classic tooled up to make a right side to match the left when they reintroduced the small flag a short time ago.

Thank you Arne2 and John Walker!

Arne2, yes I'm on fence about 1 mirror or two and about square or durants. I do use my passenger mirror when I drive though, so... still not sure. But for now I'm going to "weld em all"!

Unfortunately, I do believe these are later doors as well. My body is a '72 with a front date that I had to back date.

Thanks for your help you guys!

Better off with later galvanized doors that won't rust bubble later on and ruin the paint job. Seal the inside lower seam to be sure.

Evolution of a Carrera RST
“F” stands for fill in. Perfect location on both ‘78 doors.
Good luck.
