Battery power supply to ignition switch
Im doing my 911 68.
I have the wiring diagram in front of me. I cannot see where the ignition switch is fed from the battery. I take it has constant 12v and when the ignition is turned on a wire from it feeds to the engine. I have tracked the starter wire but not the 12 volt feed from the ignition switch to the engine bay. Car is a non runner and has been attacked by the previous owner. So I'm wanting to get it half right before I go cranking it. Thanks Lyndon |

Assuming it is the same as a 69 it gets the power from the fuse block. Part of the fuse block is hot from the battery.

Battery to fuse 3. Heater. So this goes nowhere.
Battery to starter. Then to the block in the engine bay. Then it goes to a relay fed by the starter wire on the ign switch. Alternator B+ is also from the battery. Fuel pump is fed by fuse 1. It looks like fuse 1 is fed via the ignition switch but I can't see what feeds the ign switch. I guess I will find out when I put a battery in it. Lyndon |

There are connections on the back of the fuse block. On the '69 fuses 1-5 are actually connected by a strip on the back of the fuse block. Could be the case with yours. Hope that helps.

Battery positive black wire to fuse 3 that is internally jumpered to 2 & 4. Fuse 2 red to light switch terminal 30 then goes to ignition switch terminal 30. Then switched power goes out terminal 15 back to fuse 1.

And that feeds fuse 1 when the ign is on which feeds my fuel pump and no doubt my coil.

Im fitting msd. So no need for the resitor via the coil. Should be able to clean up the engine bay nicely.

If you remove fuse number 1, the ignition switch and related circuits are dead. Thus, no. 1 is the voltage source for the ignition.
This is handy to know when the car stops working in the middle of a ride. Sherwood |
