Wires behind rear seat back?

As my re-upholstery project continues, two brown wires were discovered behind the rear seat panel.

Any idea what these could be for?

I got a closer look at the wires. There are two browns and a red with a white or silver tracer. They go into the engine compartment just forward of the CDI box. The two brown wires end up on a ground terminal, I’ve got some tracing to do to see where the red goes. Any ideas what these were for?

the 3-pin fuse connector in the relay panel of the engine compartment should have 1 fuse for the rear defroster....so if that's one of the wires, sounds like rear defroster.

Does anyone know how those wires are supposed to connect to the rear window in a Targa?

Targa defroster

Those are defroster wires.

My Targa is a 73 and has a two stage defroster, meaning two brown wires connect to each side. The first connection on either side is about 8 inches back from the roll bar if memory serves me and the second is about another 8 inches from there. If you peel the glass seal down as much as you can with your thumb, you can probably find the connectors on the windows in those locations. The connectors are super thin and angled directly to the back of the car, so its not easy to get them on. I'm sure the factory put the wires on before the installed the glass.
