FIA Historic Rally 911 Group 4 build/resto

Since my favorite threads are the build threads from barn find to race car, replica whatever so I decided to start my own.
Since there is a story to every car I will start with a bit of itīs history.
My 911 started life as a Rally car in the National and World Championship in the 70`s and 80īs before it was taken apart for a rebuild and never put back together again. I walked past the sad remains for many years at a friends garage where i had some work done on other cars until the garage keeper finally got fed up with the car just taking away space and the owner not wanting to spend the money to rebuild it. Since the owner and the garage keeper were arguing I jumped in and started negotiations with the owner that took more than a few years...
It wasnīt about money more about letting go!
So at the end of 2011 I finally had the papers which as you will see from the pics was most likely the most valuable part of the car...
I could only get the car if I let the garage keeper do the bodywork since he was promised that many years ago which was fine since he is a good man but a bit slow since he had other business to do.
As you may have noticed I am not mentioning any names and donīt want to since itīs about the car and build not the owner or other people...
Also please excuse if i miss some details, since I am more a driver than a technician, also it will be a very competitive rally car and I canīt give away all secrets!
If you want to know more details send me a pm and if you are from far away enough I will give you all details!
It had many different bodystyles in its life but will be built to FIA Period I (1977-1981) group 4 Porsche Homologation 3062 which is the form it ran in the World Championship. The first priority is to make it competitive NOW not necessarily how it ran more than 30 years ago, but it can eventually be returned to its former glory!
So I will start with the "barnfind" pics:

Absolutely! I'd love more details on the history of the car. What did it start off life as? I see early S gauges and a euro speedo.
I also see some nice chassis mods already in place. Should make a sweet project.

It started life as a bare shell from the factory with a very, VERY low dash number...
Does anybody have some info on bare shell numbers, since the factory wasn't very helpful. And I don't mean the decrypting of the number combo, I mean when and where they went to...

So when I bought the car all I had seen was what you can see in the pictures. The owner told me there was an engine and transmission in boxes at some other garage, but he hadnīt been there for 25 years!
So I was a bit concerned but it turned out that the engine and gearbox were still there, in parts but complete.
Most parts were a mess but there was some nice surprises too as you can see in the pics.

Very cool. I will be watching. I love the exhaust cutouts for the street transfers.

Some of those parts look familiar... was this car built around 1977 by Alois W?

Well I guess everybody gets excited when they start a new project so I went out and immediately bought something desperatly needed to get this project moving....a set of wheels!
I know there is quite a few wheels in the pics, even some nice deep dish 6 inch Fuchses but there is mostly only 3 wheels each so I asked the ex-owner if he sold me a 3 wheeler!? He said he will look for the missing wheels since they all were stored somewhere else...
Also the car will be built to tarmac spec first so I need some wide rears to fit the Michelin TB's or the new 305 Pirelli P7 Corsa Classic.
So I ordered a set of 8x15 and 10x15 Group 4(how fitting) wheels!
One set of Fuchses will most likely be widened to 8 and 10 or even 11 and the deep 6's sold since they are too valuable to cut up.
I really like the look and colour of the Group 4 wheels and might order another set in gold like Magnus!

I like those wheels. These look like the old Campagnolo wheels. I did not know they came in 5x130 BCD. What is the source?
