Steering Housing Part
Hi Folks, Does anyone know where I can find the Delrin (plastic) contact surface part that fits on top of the pressure cylinder maintaining proper contact between the pinion and the steering rack. There is no call out in the PET but the factory manual does specify an adjustment procedure which mentions the part. I have been chasing a sudden jerk in my right tire on hard left turn coming out the garage in reverse. I can also detect the problem going forward. At first I thought it might be a bushings issue but after a complete suspension refresh the problem was still there. Finally I decided to look at the steering mechanism and found this broken part which was loose from the cylinder. Thanks for any leads. JP

What year is the rack you are using? I wonder if mine has the same delrin ring.. I overhauled an '83 rack years ago and don't remember seeing that part but will open the other rack I have soon and tell you what I find.

Mine is a '69. The pressure block is steel and the plastic piece fits on top of it and acts as a rub strip. In another version of the steering housing the whole pressure block is plastic.
