Syberia RS - Darth Vader's choice of a SAFARI

Safaris are more than ever a trend for builds right now.

But this SAFARI is probably the most sublime yet made.

From the guys of BURKHARD INDUSTRIES in Düsseldorf, Germany

It looks fun to drive.
Lower the main in the trans for the 29-31” tires would work but a lot of wear on suspension with that leverage.

I also appreciate the time, effort, and attention to detail, but I just don't get the 911 Safari fad. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Although, the 911 is such a great platform for individual expression.

Put all that money into an engine and suspension to tackle off-road conditions but don’t bother to run the oil lines through the body.

I do actually like safari builds. And I’ve even considered doing it to my SC. Then I looked at the $8k-$10k in suspension parts. And that doesn’t include any other cool stuff.

What’s it like to actually drive/live with a safari 911? Seems like it would feel pretty slow with the extra weight and huge tires.

well. you could. not a bad point indeed.

Did you recently followed the Tuthill Porsche East African Safari participation?
These guys know what they are doing.
All P-Cars had their oil lines stock placed.
And Porsche itself wasn't scared to mount them there in the first place.
So I guess it's OK.

I saw the little documentary Tuthill did a couple years back but didn’t take note of the oil lines. I know Porsche did run them through the body in the famous East Africa Safari cars, those cars didn’t have massive tires either. I’m a fan of form following function and feel most of these “safari” builds are built to take on instagram and win on a stat sheet, not actually be used off-road.

Here’s a real safari 911

Don't get me wrong, I'm with you. Should I build a Safari, I'd run the lines through the body myself for sure.

The black Vader car needs to have it's action shot/picture taken, in full on motion like jumping a sand dune or muddy river or......

And the weaker 7:31 915 ring/ pinion needed to drive the big tires.

Cost me $6k for a G50 rebuild W/ lower gears And a limited slip

These Safari builds seem to have potential to solve parking issues in small shops like mine:
