Rear view Mirror removal
I replaced my aging rear view mirror about 10 years ago with an aftermarket one. Like the original, the mount is glued to my windshield. Unfortunately, I didn't locate it properly. After replacing my visors, I need to relocate the mirror. Has anyone found a safe way to remove glued mount or a solvent that works to soften glue?

Good luck with that.
Mirrors will fall off after 30+ years on their own at an inopportune time. One of the guys in our PCA region it 6'4" and he just glued on a new mount to get the mirror up higher to make it better for him to use the mirror. The old mount is still in place, and no one noticed unless it is pointed out. The only thing that might work is a heat gun. Most of the time trying to remove that mount breaks the windshield.

Do you remember who supplied the mirror? Did you use their glue or something else?
Can you contact the mirror supplier/manufacturer or the glue manufacturer and ask them?

I've used a skinny guitar string with good results.
Just wear a pair of thick leather gloves and saw with the guitar string. The mirrors should be put on with an adhesive patch...not a glue.
