Front torsion bar missing dust cover?
I noticed that the passenger side front torsion bar is missing the dust cover on the front of the A-arm.
Driver side: ![]() Passenger side: ![]() Is the only part missing part number 900-040-008-01-OEM ? https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/90004000801.htm?pn=900-040-008-01-OEM Since it's missing the cover, I'll wipe it out and try to smear some grease in there. What is the proper grease? |

The cover is somewhat like a freeze plug. You should be able to get it in there.

Bentley's manual calls for MoS 2 lube.
I used Super Lube synthetic which has PTFE. Any good quality grease with PTFE will do the job. Most important to remove contaminated grease and than install dust cap. Lash |

Yes you definitely need to install the plug/cap. It keeps dirt, and more importantly water, out of the splines. Be sure to "stake" it in place after you tap it on there. Stake it with a couple of dimples via a center punch and then paint it to seal the edges.

Thanks. I have Super Lube on hand.
I'll wipe the grime out the best I can without disassembling everything and smear new grease in the best I can. Fortunately, while it's dirty there is no sign of corrosion on the exposed splines. |
