Replacing CIS fuel lines/hoses

A few days ago, it was warm enough to drive so I tried to start my 81 SC, and noticed it was taking longer than usual to fire. In fact, the engine wasn't firing, and I started to notice the smell of raw gas. I got out of the car and looked underneath, and found a rather large puddle under the driver's side rear wheel.

After mopping up the gas, I poked around in the engine bay and I *think* the leak is from the Fuel Accumulator connection. I have read up on replacing lines ("Should I replace these brake and fuel lines?", " Okay- so I am going to replace my main tunnel fuel lines tomorrow. Any suggestions? " and " 911sc fuel line leak ", etc).

I have also contacted Len Cummings and he is supplying me with some replacements. When I wrote to him about my suspect FA connection, he said that "There are 2 'hoses' between the Hard lines and the Accumulator on the Feed side... and the engine on the Return side". I am purchasing these parts. Thanks Len!

If anyone has any advice for what additional fuel lines/hoses I should replace while I'm at it, please chime in. I plan on leaving the tunnel lines alone for the time being and focusing on the engine bay. I've removed the air hoses on so that I can get to the back corner of the engine bay's left side, I may remove the blower and the triangular support bracket, the air box, etc.

Keep in mind this is my first foray into the wonderful world of CIS, so at least I'm figuring out where the components are located. I have a K Jet Tester on back-order from Tool Discounters, I should have it in a couple of weeks, I hope.

Is this fuel hose behind the FA the connection to the tunnel line?

Does this hose connect the Fuel Filter to the FD? It "looks" ok, but I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and replace it.

Thanks for bearing with me as I figure this out.
John

i would verify where the leak is coming from.
check all connections and make sure they are tight.

John-

I sent you an email answering your questions, but others may want to know as well.

The connection in your first photo is the Feed from the rear hardline to the Accumulator. The "Hose" at the top center is actually Polyamide tube, and someone has "repaired" this using a band clamp.

This is likely the source of your leak, as this repair is incorrect. Polyamide tube uses unique fittings meant for tube only. Using hose and clamps may work temporarily, but not for long.

The 'Hose" in your 2nd photo is the Feed Line from the Filter to the FD, and appears to be fine condition. It is also Polyamide tube with a rubber cover. This cover will age & fail over time, but the tube will last far longer unless damaged or disturbed by some unknowing person.

I hope this helps.

Len

Thanks once again to Len, who not only made sure I had the right fuel hose for my car (due to the location of the hard line , I needed a custom length hose between the line and FA), but advised and encouraged me throughout my attempt to repair this thing .

Car is running again , thanks in no small part to this community and the helpful folks who support us newcomers. Looking forward to many years and a great many miles with my 911.
