76/77 3.0 Carrera
How hard is it to find 76/77 Euro 3.0 Carrera engine parts? Are they the same as the 3.0 Turbo Carrera parts?

The inside is basically a 2.7 through the rods, including the flywheel
The piston, cyl are same as 78/79, as are the heads, cams, and carriers. Most of the injection is 78/79 style. Bruce |

Thanks for the information. I'm just trying to learn to help me decide if I want to get a C3 targa. So Bruce would the driving experience then be about the same as 78/79 SC 3.0? I thought I heard is the C3s revved higher than a 78/79s ?

A Carrera 3.0 does have a higher redline than an SC. 300 or 400 more revs. A 78/79 US SC has the same cam timing as a C3, so the feel of the powerband is similar, but the midrange and top end are a little stronger on the C3.
I'm a fan of the C3, less so the targa body style. |

78/79 SC has 172hp@5500, 189lb-ft@4200, 2552lbs gearing is the same except that the '76 C3 anyway was available w/ 7 & 8 x15, 205/50 & 225/50 x15 tires, this wheel & tire package really perks the C3 up. Parts are very easy to get

There was a Carerra 3.0 website in the past. Cannot find it now. Did find the one below, seems to be active, but is not the one I had seen in the past.

Thanks for the information. I will search for sites specific on the C3 but wanted to get some first hand top line highlights. Reason I am looking for a targa is at "some point" I will sell both my P cars and move to 1 P car but something unique. I would like to keep the option of an open top so the targa is a compromise.

You have a cab, which is a different beast than a targa. In my opinion, Porsche did a better job on the cabriolet than the targa. You might like a targa, I didn't, but I'd suggest you drive a few before heading down that path.
There isn't a lot of info on the net about the C3 and much of what's out there isn't all that correct. If you have any specific questions, you might ask them here as there are several of us that have owned them. |

The C3 website is down for some reason and has been for some time. Targas are growing in popularity by leaps and bounds and not exactly sure why. They do look pretty cool so I get that. Perhaps they are getting over the stigma that coupes are always worth more thus more desirable. The time is now to get any C3. I feel if you snooze you will regret it later. There is a brown metallic targa currently at BHCC for $27,500 i think but it is not numbers matching, nor does it even have a C3 motor.

Charles, first you'll have to find one! Not a lot of em in the US. If you do & have a chance to drive it, you'll find it more responsive than a early SC. Body parts are mostly comparative. Engine parts, I have a couple suggestions for sources. Some/many are unique to the Euro 3.0 engine.
