Not sure if the manuals are much different, but I have found that my early 78 RoW (Aug 77 built) has several parts from 76-77 cars including the fuel filter, brakes, etc. So you have to be careful when ordering parts.

Thank you. I just purchased a 79 ROW and am curious as to what is compatible and what isn’t. The adventure begins !

It's certainly been helpful with my ROW SC's. 1979 and 1982.

Very few differences between the US and ROW 78-79s, at least few which wouldn't be obvious.

You can download the US and the ROW parts catalogs covering these models from Porsche's website, which would allow you to see which parts might be different when that was something you figured you might need to do when servicing or repairing anything.

Pleased to help.

I've got the Haynes book too so when I've got a job on I read both book's opinion on how to do it, then it makes sense.

Just remember ROW SCs don't have that lambada sensor stuff.

US 78-79 didn't have Lambda either, did they?

Haynes may have gotten better, but one needs to use it with some caution. What I remember in particular is the description about how to deal with the pressure plate. The photos and description showed installing some spacers on the bolts holding the PP to the flywheel as part of how to remove it, or maybe disconnect the clutch release mechanism. But that was something needed on the early 911s, which had a push clutch. Since 1970, through at least the 3.2s, the cars used a pull clutch. Confused the dickens out of lots of DIY guys.

Porsche's service manual system isn't much better when it comes to clear distinctions between models, but they were meant for Porsche trained mechanics, not just the likes of us.

I've found the Bentley manual useful. I purchased my 79 ROW last year.

I tend to bounce between the Bentley manual, Wayne's books, and of course the forums.

The "Technical Specification" pamphlets have the RoW information in them. Using one in conjunction with a Bentley manual should give you enough data.

If you can find the tech spec books - at least some years ago they were NLA from Porsche. Are they on E-Bay?
