Shop time to change tie rods, ball joints and control arm bushings
How many hours of labor should a shop typically charge for changing the tie rods, ball joints, and control arm and sway bar bushings?
I managed to change the shocks in the rear and the strut inserts and mounts no problem. My plan this weekend was to change the remaining front end components. As I was trying to remove the old tie rods, the car shifted on the jack stands. I was able to slide out quickly but was seriously freaked out. I had the two wheels under the car but in the 25 years that I've been DIY this has never happened to me. I always practice good safety when working under a car, I guess tugging on the old tie rods was too much. Anyway, thought it would be best for my mechanic to finish the job. Just want to make sure it won't be 12 hours instead of 4 or 6.

8 hours for both sides.
Stay safe, be safe, get very good jack stands and jacks.

Got the car back today from the mechanic. For those keeping score at home, the total labor was $450. His hourly charge is $125. It drives awesome. Fuel pump was leaking so had that changed too.

Plus he had to reset the toe and ride height at a minimum. Good choice.
