Great project! The original blue color will look great!. I think you will be happy with the Ducktail and it will look just right with your SC flares. But having the original decklid painted to match and hanging on the wall will be best, so you can switch it up any time, if you want. As for the rear speakers, I think it could be cool, perhaps. It is a Blaupunkt so it is proper German accessory. But I think what is best about that rear speaker setup is that it seems to be something that would be easily removable, in case you might ever change your mind. So I say, go ahead and give the speakers a try! Especially if you are going with a decent stereo sound system! Just don't bolt them down or do anything that would damage the rear tray underneath.
Enjoy your (to be) long hood Porsche!! George |

I like the speaker shelf. Enough volume to get some bass, points the speakers the right direction, doesn't block much of the rear view, looks better than home made, removable. What more could you want?

Year of project 911
Easiest way to tell year at this point is to look at seat belt receiver. The style that is shown is a 74 85. See if it was welded to tunnel or is it factory, part of runnel.
Too many things point to 72-85 car. Also can look at battery ara. Should have had boxes on both side for dual batteries.

Unfortunately due to border restrictions and Covid, my line on a complete set of 71 doors and other misc long hood body panels is now gone.
Im looking for a good long hood, set of fenders, 911S front bumper. complete doors including chrome window frames etc. I am in line to hopefully to trailer the car to a highly reputable fabricator north of me to get the front suspension pan, front latch panel, rear latch panel and my left floor section replaced. Im most excited about repairing the rear seat pan. Until then: this beautiful ride is my work wallpaper and I look forward to getting some free time after the 12th to work on my car again. ![]() |

Glad we could still work out door deal! And great choice of paint. Is that Mexico Blue?
Keep going bud, you inspired me to work on mine. Won't be as nice, but 'better than before!' I had a 911 poster on my wall as a kid, which was hard enough to get, but, having a real deal 911 is a dream I never had. |

Doors Arrived
It's been some time! Working through the fires and more specifically the fire smoke over the past month has been challenging.
Customs finally released the doors, I'm really happy to finally have them in the shop. Unfortunately when they inspected them and repacked them they put the doors back in the box at an angle and both corners are rolled. Luckily I insured them! I really want to make some progress on the sheet metal work, where is the best place to buy replacement panels for early 911's? More specifically I need the - Suspension pan, front latch panel and floor pans. I need some guidance and help with the front end of my car. I could really use an experienced bodyman / fabricator to help finish this part of the project. I am running the Carrera oil cooler and I think I want to keep that in lieu of adding the battery boxes back to the front end. If anyone knows an independent fabricator in CA or near the central coast I would appreciate the referral. ![]() ![]() ![]() I am happy to say I striped down and listed all the old bumpers etc, if anyone is looking for these parts they're on the classifieds. ![]() |
