Porsche 911 RSR IROC.

Hello Gents.

Being Reading about Jerry Seinfeld Porsches headed to auction -

Three of Jerry Seinfeld's prized Porsches are headed for auction under Gooding's gavel - LA Times

What amazing cars - but my passion for Porsche 911 racecars - starting with the 911R and the later 911ST is just awake again with the Porsche 911 RSR IROC.

It's just Stunningly beautiful.

Here is the Revson car:

The 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.0 IROC RSR, originally owned by transportation and racing magnate Roger Penske, was a race contender in the 1970s at Riverside Raceway and Daytona Speedway, and has participated in Daytona vintage races. It is expected to fetch more than $1.2 million.

With all that passion - the right thing will be to make ownership over this car, but here is the problem, about 1.2 million problems....

So I gonna go the Pelican way, examine the whole story about these cars and gather parts to make me one roadgoing version.

So feel free to share any information - pictures or story about the IROC Porsche 911 racecars.

Thanks - Cheers - Tommy

Weren't the drivers in different cars for every race? Or did they drive the same cars throughout, and just changed the numbers?

They did rotate cars, but I believe it was a three car rotation. Don't quote me on that.
As for wheel size I think it was 15x9 15x11 again just going off a poor memory

A lot of great info here!

I don't know what a 3-car rotation is. I think the driver of the car finishing first got put in the car finishing last for the next race. and so on.

yes, 9 & 11 x15. tires were 230/600 & 260/600 race slicks, roughly the same as 235/45 and 265/40 x15

I just meant each driver drove approximately three different cars over the series.

I think 6 of them drove 4 cars, the other 6 didn't drive in the fourth race.

At 9:44 in, look at how low Gordan Johncock is in his car seat. Looks like his helmet has a foot of clearance to the roof.

the fitipaldi car was once owned by Pablo escobar. talk about checkered provenance. makes the ex-Whittington cars ownership history seem clean by comparison

That’s a great video…

Anyone know where to source the 917-style aluminum valve stems that were used on the RSR Fuchs? I've found them in brass and chrome but not aluminum.

That yellow Fitipaldi car is one of my favourite Porsches. I'd love to built an iroc replica one day.

Thanks for the info Bill Verburg and others. Is the tire selection better with 15 inch wheels? for 16s it sucks

Yes just fabulous cars. The vintage racing of these cars mostly clones of course is quite good and close. This is wghy , for the moment i have chosen to pursue HSR/SVRA events in group 5 and 6 depending on organization. BTW all of these are carbeurated classes.. mine 50mm PMOs .

my csr getting there. here is none other than David Murry in the car helping me sort the suspension at VIR last month...

David Murry Performance based at turn 2 at Road Alanta built this car.. Frank Resciniti the Crew Chief is simply amazing. Highly reccomended
