Sportseats M409 (Turbo seats) - play in backrest

Dear friends,
I have an issue I'd like to solve; maybe you can help.

I ride the M409-Sportseats (MK2), also known as "Turbo"-seats (or tomb stones).
Both have a lot of play in their backrests.
Meaning, set in position, you kann wobble/tilt the backrest significantly forth and back.
This play lets them shake when going over rough roads and bumps to the extend that they "clunk" really hard.
Took me some time to locate that noise sounding like an oil pipe was loose (or similar).

I already had a closer look at them and visualized the mechanic of it.
But no clue yet how best to make this stop.

Any idea?

Thanks Flo

Hey Flo. If your backrest is able to move as far as if you were tilting it completely forward, it's possible there's something wrong with the hook that locks the backrest into position. Granted, the pic I posted is not your Sport Seat model but it is a Sport Seat bracket---my guess is it's an earlier version since yours has the rotating knob for adjusting tilt and this is a "lever tilt."

Look closely at locking hook and you'll see a spring hooked into it. It's not possible to see the spring itself because the coils sit inside a plastic sleeve. Assuming your model seat has a similar backrest locking config, it's possible that spring broke and the locking hook has swung back and is staying swung back.

Another possibility is the tilt adjustment mechanism is not engaging correctly. Since you have a rotating knob and I have the lever, I can't comment specifically on your config.

There are rubber v-blocks that attach to the seat bottom latching plate. Or there were. These blocks take up about 5mm of play, and they silence the vibration. Unfortunately, they are not available any place I can find.

Before going to far- also, check the screws holding the seats to the floor/sliders. If they get loose, it will mimic this same sound.

Screws from seat to rail and from rail to car are tight.

@Karl, it’s not tilting all the way forth and back.
It just has rattle-play in the position set.

Where should the blocks be at?
Cannot identify.

I will have to look in the morning, but if memory serves they sit on top of the flat tab sticking out of the seat bottoms where the latch hooks under. The block fills (well, filled) that gap between the seat bottom and back.
