Removing all-wheel system from 964 C4

I've heard/read about 964 C4 owners being able to remove the all-wheel drive system from their 911s to reduce weight and to make them more "trackable."

Is this really true and has anyone ever done it?

Mahalo in advance!

When I was considering a six-speed (and not considering the cost... ) , one of the options was taking an awd tranny from a 993 twin turbo. For that you just disconnect the front diff. Less weight from front diff, less power lost, more power to rear... everyone's happy if it's a track car. I don't know if anything similar works for a 964 C4. Although I hope it does. I hear they have too much power up front and that the 993 C4s are more rear biased. It's great for snow and rain, but it's not the driving experience most 911 owners want.

If you want to try it as a RWD you can disconnect the driveshaft coupler at the trans end of the center driveshaft, just secure the coupler so it won't beat up the housing, you might have to remove it. From there you could remove the entire system, but you'd have to disable the F/R diff lock system and plug the hydraulics so you didn't have serious problems with brakes, ie. loss of fluid.
