Hood crest question

Hello,
Quick question; I have an '86 and I ordered a new crest for her as a finishing touch for when shes done in the body shop. The one currently on the car is flat (and fadded) how ever the new one is not flat. I'm curious if the non flat one is the way to go or should I just get one from Porsche? I'm curious is the one I got just a knock off emblem. This is my finishing touch I want it to look correct and good.

Thanks guys,
Anthony

They have changed styles over the years.....if you like the new style keep it....if not, or you want to be authentic....you will have to search for the older style.

Pelican may have them. Some of the ones you get are knock offs, they will turn color very soon due tio the cheap plating.

I saw some silver/titanium ones advertised in the latest copy of Excellence....pricey, but flat and tarnish resistant.

No, you don't have a knock off, however Porsche has been changing the sources of their badges. 911 or the 901 article were coming from Germany but may now be sourced from Asia. The 996 badge is made in Germany.

The earlier crest/badges were flatter than the one that the dealer and after market sellers have available. Also you can tell the difference in an earlier style to the current remake by the stallion's legs. The legs are thinner than the currently available badges. Also be aware that you can buy the "Earlier" style crest with the orange bars instead of the red bars, but the stallion's legs are the thicker ones. Your best bet is to find someone with some NOS badges at a swap meet or put a 996 badge with the black PORSCHE letters. This badge's stallion has the thin legs but again is more convex. Good Luck.
