1969 911e Tach issues

I have a very original barn find E. My mechanic has completed engine and tranny rebuild, the rest of the car is staying with patina. My problem is the mechanic installed MSD, which I'm alright with. However, once that was installed he said my stock tach will no longer work. He put in a SC tach from another car in his shop, and it worked just fine. However, the SC tach has very white numbers not in sync with my other patina'd gauges. Can an E tach be modified to work with the MSD? Or perhaps can the face of the E tach be transferred onto the body and internal workings of the SC tach. Thanks for any advice.

You can have the SC tach face modified to match your E gauges. North Hollywood Speedometer and other shops can do this for you.

Will they take my original E tach face and move it over to the SC tach body?

The best solution is to get a TACH-ADAPT from Bob Ashlock. I believe Pelican sells them. This will convert the MSD tach signal to work with your original tach and you will not have to modify your tach or any wiring.

Just to be clear. Your 69 never had white numbers on the gauges. They were more like ivory when new. A couple years later, the gauge markings became white.

Tach-adapt is a great solution.

Correct they were more like ivory. The SC tach is clearly white.
