Brake adapter

Anyone know where I can buy the caliper adapters to use 964/c4 brakes retrofitted onto an older car?

See from your profile/pelican garage that you have a '77 930 -- most folks consider the 930's braking system to be the "gold standard" for vintage 911s --

what underlying braking issue are you trying to address/improve? Even stock SC/Carrera brakes should have more than adequate stopping power for agressive street driving out of the box and track-centric heat/fade issues can be addressed through proper pad selection and cooling mods. One issue that's been highlighted when brake retrofits have been previously discussed is the less than ideal front to rear bias that frequently result from these retrofits.

964 calipers are axial mount and as such there realy iisn't the sort of adptor you are looking for

best practice is to machining the mounting ears off and convert them to radial mount. Then use a caliper adaptor and 930 rotors

stock 964

modified w/ hats to use 930 rotor annulus

I recently installed 993 calipers. There is a great thread here called the ultimate brake upgrade with all the info you could ever need on brake upgrades. I recommend reading it before going any further

993 are easy because the are radial mount
You need to be careful of the wheels because of brake clearance though

the 993 or 964 rears are also easy as long as '78 up 930 rotors are used

To directly answer your question -

VCI - Porsche 911- 930 69-89, 914/6 brake upgrade page

Doug is the go-to guy for what you need.

I agree that Doug(VCI) is one of the better places to purchase brake kits, but there is no 964 front caliper on that page, he does have the 964t rear as a choice, the method to adapt them is as I outlined for the front above, That works in back too but isn't necessary.

Above you can see a stock 964 front axial mount caliper
here is one that I used on my own car a decade or so ago, you can see that the axila ears are shaved nd the body converted to radial mount w/ a caliper adapter, these would be used w/ '78-80 930 rotors w/ flat hats on 911 hubs

In back you can do the same or fill the old axial mount holes and redrill as seen here to accommodate 930 rear rotors

Just for comparison here are the current calipers on my car, from left to right 993RS axial mount rear stock, 993RS rear converted to radial mount w/ an adaptor, stock 993RS radial mount caliper. These all use 322mm 993RS rotors, 288 in back and 32mm in front
