What to fill the void

I have a '68 912 Targa, the entire body has restored added turbo flares all around and new RS style front and rear. I would like to insert a motor w/ a little more pep than the old four cylinder. Any suggestions on motors? I have a rebuilt 901 5 speed and have already modified the motor mounts. Additionally, the PO installed red rear tor. bars, anybody have an idea of what size these bars are?

Your comments are most appreciated..

Greg

your limitation is going to be the power the 901 can handle, so I think your upper limit will be a 3.0, having said that the sound of a nice 2.4 or 2.7 with webers is hard to beat.

Any suggestions of an information source to do some research on these engines?
