I'm currently looking at an ex-California 1986 Carrera Convertible to replace my beloved 1972 S Targa - and one thing about this car puzzles me
![]() I've never seen a car this "new" (well, relatively speaking..) that has chrome door handles and chrome rings around the headlights - the onwer claims that this is how the car delivered as new, but can any of you US-guys verify that this option was indeed available as late as 1986? Or am I looking at something that someone has changed along the life of the car?

Bo,
Unless I am missing something huge, no way a "normal" 86 US Carrera has original chrome door handles. As for the headlights - are these H-4's? If so, these could have been retrofitted and no painted trim ring installed over the chrome ring. |

Porsche dumped the chrome look with the 911SC. BTW remember all the differences when looking at a US model. Different engine, different suspension setup, different bumpers/lamps, different exhaust (probably cat?). Unless it's really really cheap I'd take a Euro model over a US anytime!

Mikkel,
What do you think is different on the suspension set-up between US and Euro 3.2 Carreras? I thought the only differnce is the lower Euro ride-height? |

As far as I can remember at least in some years the US models came with softer shock absorbers.
