Road Trip
I had to take a "quick" 700 mile trip back to Oklahoma on Friday. Since the weather was going to be great I figured I would take the SC Targa, fast cruisin', top off, warm and dry weather, I couldn't resist.
Well the trip went great with no problems. Thought I would just share a few tails. First there was only one other Porsche that I saw. Just one! Where was everyone? The one I did see was a 356 being towed...looked like a project. I pulled up and eyeballed it and gave the driver a thumbs up. It was in eastern Arkansas, you don't happen to be a reader/poster here do you? Now some tales. Saw three MG's heading west. They were in a line and had some kind of plaque on the back that said something like "Official Ontario Canada MG tour. Two had their tops down and the drivers were wearing those old WWI leather helmets. Pretty cool! The grader driver in the construction area that was standing up and waving like hell really put a smile on my face. A redneck Razorback construction worker that liked a Porsche! And then there was the older couple, mid 60's, in a mid 80's Trans Am. They parked next to me at a rest stop and asked what kind of car did I have and did I want to trade? I said no I didn't but it was a Porsche. Hubby said "Oh, that is made in France, honey" I didn't correct him, didn't want to make him feel bad. Then there were the million head jerkers that would damn near drive off of the road getting a long look. Little kids are the best, they just stare and smile!!! I always give a wave and a headlight flash or two. It is so much fun to drive this thing. Nothing else comes close. Every trip is a new experience. Too long already, I'm done. Phil |
