Momo Prototipo install on 67S questions

Hi All,

I am in the process of installing a Momo Prototipo wheel to my '67S. I searched several of the forum posts but can't seem to find a solution to my install issue. Basically, the horn stays on when I go to reconnect the negative battery terminal. Somewhere, I have a grounding issue or am not hooking up the wires properly.

I took several photos of the install and was hoping to get some help on what I'm doing wrong???
I don't think I need to re-use the old steering wheel turn signal cancel ring but showed a photo of just in case.

I wired the Momo hub female wire into the horn button male adapter. The photos show that after my frustration, I covered the wire with some fuel line and taped off the circuit so I could at least mount the wheel and drive it to test and see if the wheel was centered.

Again, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There are two wires that go to the aftermarket horn button.

Thanks for the response. My Momo horn button has only 1 connector in the back. I was putting the wire from the hub into the horn button. Where is that second wire (yellow/green) coming from?

There is also a silver ring that sits under the wheel that has a connection with a tab but have no idea what wire would go to it?

Maybe I rec'd the wrong horn ring in the wheel kit?

I only have 1 wire going to my wheel on my 79 although the horn button has 2 posts. Works just fine with only one hooked up. Not sure if the 67 would be different.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to crawl under the car and take a look at the horn connections again tomorrow. What should have been a fairly straight forward install has turned into a tail spin.

OK, I figured out the issue. It was this piece that came with the leather horn button insert, NOT the piece from the MOMO kit. Apparently this piece didn't get along with the inner spring (no movement in the button mechanism) so it was making constant contact. I took it apart, put the MOMO version on and voila - it now works!!!

That does seem to be an original piece FWIW but when doing the leather conversion, small alteration on that part is needed indeed.
