Porsche Crest Help! Need Historic Plastic Part

Anyone know where I can buy a new plastic clip for the end of my 72 Targa's Oil Filler door's release lever? I have attached a pic!! I figure this is a rare one because of the short duration of this option.

Pete

I'm just back from the garage...had to look to understand what you meant. If that piece is NLA, the only functional fix I could think of would be drilling a small hole through the rod, then a washer or two and a cotter key. I wouldn't have a clue where to look for an original replacement. If anybody finds a source, PLEASE PM or email me...I'd like a spare or two. BTW, the piece in my car is made of white plastic...perhaps your broken piece is a black colored replacement of some kind? This gives me hope that some replacements are out there...

I would put money on it that that is the same clip used in the door latch linkage. To find out, borrow the one from your door.

I'll post pictures of it tomorrow if you can't verify...

Hmmm, that's curious. I'm sure the piece in my car is still original, but no black coating. Looking at mine, I know it would be a (female dog) ***** to replicate, thus the washers/drilled hole/cotter key idea. At least it would then function, and should one ever find an exact replacement, the drilled hole would be covered up by the replacement part if you drilled carefully...the hole allowing just enough space for a flat washer below the cotter key...

Thanks VERY much for the tip, Souk! I'm sure a catalog number and a pic would be MUCH appreciated. Me? Computer illiterate here, and I have a LOT of trouble surfing/searching internet catalogs...for anything you come up with, thanks in advance!

Thank you!!!

You guys are are great!!!! I had that sinking feeling when it broke off. I went leafing thru the performance mag and sure enough on p.214 there it is...$1.95 I think, part #900617 I will have Pelican throw it in my next order if they can get it.

To think this all started when I decided to chip off some flaking paint around the release button so I could respray around the button. Looks like Porsche use some kind of yellow plastic insert in 72 around that button.

Pete

What number?

If it is Number 13, the Part number is
911.531.563.00 which rolls over to
911.531.563.01, which rolls over to
993.531.563.00. If that number is right, you can probably get it at your local dealer for about a buck.

If it is not number 13, let me know, I will get the part number for you.

Tom

Hey TechGuy, you know, since that is such a historic part, there should be a finder's fee n'est pas? Feel free to send a case of Guiness to each of us

This is fantastic info. Thanks very much, guys. After my previous post, I shut down, and couldn't spot it in the Performance products catalog I have. A case to each? Well, how about a beer if any of you find yourselves thirsty in Oregon???

the clip in the picture looks just like the ones used on my SCs interior door handle linkage. I looked in the PET in the door section, and YES, it is the 911 531 563 01 number. max
