Rusted Fender Inner Flange

1973 911T Targa located in San Francisco

I removed my left front fender and the fender flange is completely rusted. The flange is still intact but has rusted through holes. The body does not have any rust where the fender attaches.

Anyone know where I can just buy the flange instead of a new fender? Or CAD files so I can get one laser cut and welded?

I hope I don't have to buy a new fender.

Thank you in advance,

Jon

Not exactly sure what you mean by fender flange, but I would recommend trying Restoration Design...Canadian firm who makes high quality repair pieces, and with their online catalog you can quickly see if they gave what you are looking for,

No parts or CAD files will exist. Your options are to buy a new fender, fabricate your own patches or buy a later SC/Carrera fender and graft in sections by cut and weld process.

Been there. Done that.

This is the same for the vertical fender support or the horizontal fender lip adjacent to the hood.

Thanks for your replies.

I'll try cutting and fabricating, worth trying before buying a new fender.

I used a donor fender from a damaged car. OTE. The flange was perfect. way easier to cut and graft new section than to try and fab that mounting flange.

Is it too far gone to strip the flange and treat/protect? This will save the original paint. As soon as you hit it with the welder, its a slippery slope i think as its going to need paint work too and then you have to decide how far to go with the paint job? Just my 2c

I have fixed a few holes in mine by just cutting out the rusted area and welding in new metal, not much fabricating to be done just drilling the occasional hole. The rust was all well below the bend that goes out into the fender so was not a problem.

Fabricating an authentic flange nearly impossible without a die and press.
