Removing carpet

How do you remove carpet from a mid 70s 911? Are there special tools or is it just a matter of pulling up on the carpet.

I want to take it up without ripping it.

Mine in my 79 came out very easily. Just pull and overcome the adhesive. I had the seats out and the center console around the shifter of course.

Around the shifter I assume you take the knob off, pull up the grommet and then the carpet will come up and over the shift lever. Will take a look under the carpet as the grommet seems to be tied down maybe with glue. Should get to it this weekend.
