CIS fuel pressure test question

So it seems I want to disconnect the brass fitting from the “bolt” to the WUR. Then attach my pressure gauge there. The brass fitting and the bolt are moving together, so I’ve applied some liquid wrench to help.

But am I going down the right path to attach my gauge? I.E. remove just the brass fitting off the WUR and attach the gauge side with the valve to it, other side of gauge on the brass fitting?

Use the line at metering head to connect your tester.Having said that the line at the WUR shouldnt be spinning. You may have found your pressure leak

Thanks, I love it when they say good luck at a restaurant.

Fuel pressure gauge installation........

Mike,

It does not matter where you install your CIS gauge (WUR or FD side). As long as the shut-off valve is installed at the WUR side. My CIS pressure tester is permanently installed at the fuel distributor and just hook it up to WUR’s being tested. After calibrating hundred’s of these Bosch WUR’s, you will be able to establish that the factory manual instruction is not the ideal location. I conveniently use the WUR fitting.

The PSM says to install it at the FD and that is good. But if you have 1,000 plus installations experience testing and calibration WUR’s you will see it differently. And I have more than 25 years of work experience and counting.

Thank you CIS Guru Tony!

Well there I have it, I thought I'd seen expert advice hooking in at the WUR connection.
Thanks for the help, my consternation level is now at zero! Got the shutoff valve at the WUR side though, thanks for the memory jogger.

Good you asked - I had never considered hooking it up anywhere but at the WUR. Maybe whatever manual I had looked at showed it that way? Maybe I just saw it as easier. I even went a year, racing, with it installed and hung from a trunk lid hinge (valve open, of course) so I could look whenever I wanted at what was going on. A hose is a hose is a hose.
