67 911S Engine temp question

First drive after a 2 year make over. Never driven before.
Runs cold. Maybe 140 if I'm lucky. Its cold here about 15 degrees Celsius.
Normal or ???
Lyndon

Not cold. Or are you saying 140F?

On my temp gauge the lowest number is 140. That's where it's running. Seems to cold.

In cool weather my 76 runs at the bottom of the gauge, that's with a 78 motor, SC front oil cooler and no fan. Could be my oil thermostat isn't closing completely and my temp should be higher.

If you don't have a front cooler, bottom of the gauge seems a bit low.

If your thermostat is frozen open it may take long rides to get to temp
At 180 the thermostat, if working correctly, should open to send warm oil to the on board cooler.

might check for a match between your oil temp sender and gauge. my '76 with a 3.2 swap had the original 3.2 sender with the '76 gauge and acted as you describe. worth a look as it's an easy fix...
