Rarelyl8 Headers

These just showed up. Absolutely work of art. The welds are gorgeous. Thanks Brian.

Did they do away with the slip joint? I got mine awhile ago, I think while Bemn was still making them, mine have slip joints. Also had v-bands installed

M&K compared to Georges

The nice part of having the v-bands on you secondaries is you can have custom lengths made to accommodate your preferred muffler. I'm sending my 997 muffler to Brian to custom make my flanges to work with the new headers

I like the little bosses on the flanges for the heads of the bolt to clamp up against. Classy.

Tirwin, what muffler are you running? Did you notice any gains with the headers? What about sound?

I’m running Brian’s active exhaust. So it’s 2-in/2-out or 4-out.

Short answer: love it!

First, I had to adjust the mixture because it was too lean with the freer flow.

Then I couldn’t figure out why the dump pipes were opening at idle. The gates are closed by manifold vacuum and I didn’t have enough vacuum at idle to close. It was a real head scratcher until I realized that the blue vac line on my ‘83 dizzy retards timing at idle (emissions). I disconnected and plugged that vac line and problem solved. Works great now.

Now dealing with a fried power wire to the CDI. Once I get that repair done I’ll record a video. The new exhaust is 76dB at idle and 90dB when the gates open so about 2.5 times as loud.

I love the sound. My neighbor heard it idling in the driveway and came over to see what it was.

I've been running Rarlyl8's headers on my car for years, they are fantastic.

Looking forward to the video. I have essentially the same set up sans the active pipes. My second M&K and I love ‘em.

I have Brian's M&K GT3 muffler that I ran with SSIs. Sold the SSIs to get his headers. Sending Brian my 997 GT3 muffler today to do some custom flanges to work with the headers. I'm going to cap off the side inlets. Not going with active on 997. Only using the lower portion of muffler. It's going to be louder. Special project Brian's doing for me. Should be awesome when done. Like all his work.

It’s the M&K 1.63” headers with the heat jackets. Brian makes them in 1.5” and 1.63” with and without heat.

I’d love to see a video. I have an M&K 2 in 1 out mounted to SSIs and it sounds amazing. Those headers have been on my wish list for years....

Ha, having a 3-month old has certainly cut into my car time....for now. Can’t wait for the little guy to join us on some drives. Looks like you and the gruppechat crew had fun on the last one.

Maybe I should buy these headers, “for my son.” I’m sure my wife will understand.

Thank you guys! Making your 911 more enjoyable to own/drive is what it's all about, whatever I can do to make that happen makes me happy. The RSR headers were designed and produced many years ago as a RarlyL8 product. The v-band set pictured above in post #3 is a Gen I RarlyL8 version with the v-band secondaries being a custom option. When RarLyL8 and M&K combined a few years back the 911 headers moved over to M&K.
Doing some pretty fun stuff with the Active Exhaust System, 997 GT3 back boxes and big bore 1.75" primary race systems. One set of custom RSR headers is now on a 917 clone twin turbo.

Is there any dyno data compared to SSIs, or the generic Chinese headers out there? Yours look beautiful, and I would suspect increased performance, I'm just curious about actual data.

I bought these RarlyL8 headers directly from Brian in 2014 for my 3.2SS Engine. They still look as good as the day they were installed. I had intended to use SSI headers (with heater boxes removed) but but they weren't the optimal size for a performane 3.2. On the Westech Superflo dyno the engine puts out 300 hp at the crank and 257WHP. That's with a single plugs and 9.5 c.r.

Thanks Brian for the quality product.
